ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture needles are made of stainless steel and are single use, sterile and disposed of directly after treatment. They are inserted into specific acupoints that are located all over the body.  The acupuncturist will typically choose between 10 and 20 acupoints, depending on the condition being treated. Typically, more needles are used for a pain related condition because local points are used at the site of the pain, combined with distal points that treat the overall diagnosis. The number of needles used in a treatment does not impact the results of a treatment. Every treatment given is individualized for the patient's specific needs.

ELECTRO-STIM

Electro-stim acupuncture has shown very beneficial results in treating pain and paralysis symptoms. Once the needles have been inserted into specific point in the area of pain or paralysis, they are attached to a device by using two clips, one positive and one negative. The acupuncturist is then able to adjust the frequency and intensity of the continuous impulse running between the two needles, depending on the condition being treated.

CUPPING

Cupping is a form of healing therapy in which cups are suctioned to an area of the body that is tense or sore.  It can be done with cups made of silicone, glass (using fire to create the suction) or plastic (using a pump to create the suction).   The cups can be placed in stationary spots on the body or can be slid across lubricated skin. Cupping is particularly beneficial in areas of the body with larger muscles such as the back or legs, but can also be done on the abdomen, arms and even the face. Cupping helps release tension and relieve pain by increasing circulation and stretching the fascia.

FACIAL ACUPUNCTURE

Constitutional facial acupuncture uses a constitutional approach to the facial landscape, which treats the body, as well as the face

When the face is needled, blood and Qi flow to the area transporting nutrients to the cells.

Needling the face also creates a positive microtrauma, and activates the body’s wound healing response. This stimulates the fibroblasts and can promote increased production of collagen/ elastin.

CHINESE

HERBAL MEDICINE

Chinese herbal formulas have been used for thousands of years in China. They are a great addition to most acupuncture treatments by prolonging the effects of your treatment or addressing the underlying root cause of your condition.  Herbs can be taken individually or as part of a formula and can be taken as pills, a powder or in raw herb form.

CHINESE DIETARY RECOMMENDATIONS

TCM nutrition recommendations are a great way for you to become more involved in the healing of your body. In traditional Chinese medicine theory, certain foods have properties that coincide with patterns of imbalance in the body.  This means by eating these foods, you can help prolong the effects of your acupuncture treatment.
